Javier Saviola Set To Return To Barcelona As La Masia Coach

Former Argentina international Javier Zaviola is set to take over as head coach of Barcelona’s La Masia academy. Former Barcelona star Savio is reportedly in talks to replace Sergio Baruan at La Masia, one of the best football academies in the world.

Javier Savio, currently the assistant coach of FC Ordino in Andorra, has a close relationship with Barcelona’s first team coach Xavi. Both are players who have previously played together for the Barcelona senior team. For Saviola, it’s a chance to return to the team he played for six years.

Javier Zaviola was with Barcelona from 2001 to 2007. He has twice left the club on loan and has played for Monaco and Sevilla. Saviola has scored 72 goals and 31 assists in 172 appearances for Barcelona.

He arrived at Real Madrid from Barcelona and played two seasons for Los Blancos. Since then, he has played for Benfica, Malaga, Olympiacos and Hellas Verona, and has retired to Savior Riverplate to play in Europe. Saviola has been FC Ordino’s assistant coach since 2016.
