Jay Beam affair – Case against actor Surya, director Gnanavell

by time news

‘Jai Beam’ is a movie directed by TC Gnanavell and starring Surya, Manikandan, Lijomol Jose, Rajisha Vijayan and Prakash Raj among others. After watching the film, political leaders, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, and various film personalities praised it. The film has been critically acclaimed.

However, Pamaka youth leader Anbumani Ramadas had issued a statement saying that the film was set to insult the Vanniyar community. Following this, a notice was sent to Surya by the lawyer on behalf of the Vanniyar Sangam demanding an apology from the ‘Jay Beam’ film crew and compensation of Rs 5 crore.

Some of the negative comments that director Gnanavelle and Jaybeam had on the film were unexpected. Jaybeam has no intention of insulting an individual or a particular community in filmmaking. He said recently that he would like to express his heartfelt condolences to those who were depressed and hurt.

In this context, a case has been filed in the Chidambaram court against actor Surya, director Gnanavell and others in connection with the Jaybeam film affair. Vanniyar Sangam leader P.D. Arulmozhi has filed a case in the Chidambaram court on charges including spreading slander, inciting violence between the two communities and disturbing the public peace.
