Actor Surya and Santhanam fans have been embroiled in a controversy on social media over the Jai Beam movie.
Jay Beam, starring Surya, was recently released on Amazon. The film is a realistic portrayal of the problems that dark people face in their lives and has been very well received by the people. However, the Bamaka and Vanniyar Sangams strongly objected to the depiction of Jay Beam in a derogatory manner. Later, the film crew changed the relevant scene and released it.
Following this, Bamaga MP Anbumani Ramadoss wrote a letter to actor Surya asking various questions. Surya also responded in his own style. As a result, the clash between Surya and Bamaka was expected to end and the Vanniyar Sangam lawyer sent a notice to actor Surya seeking Rs 5 crore in damages. This caused a stir for Surya fans.
Meanwhile, political and film personalities including Chief Minister Stalin, People’s Justice Center chairman and actor Kamal Haasan, Karunas, directors Pa. Ranjith and Bharathiraja have congratulated ‘Jaybeam’. Meanwhile, the South Indian Film Association and Bharathiraja had separately urged Anbumani not to criticize actor Surya anymore as he had explained.
In this context, actor Santhanam’s response to a question raised by journalists regarding the Jay Beam movie has caused a great stir among the film industry.
He said: – It is not right to belittle one another in order to highlight one of the films, not just Jay Beam but any other film. It is not proper to degrade anyone in films. He said that for 2 hours people from all walks of life should sit and watch the film in a peaceful manner.
