jpnn.com – JAKARTA – Jay Idzes admitted that he was very proud to be the first Indonesian player to play in the Italian Serie A. Jay Idzes expressed this after making his debut in Serie A when Venezia played against Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium last Sunday. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Indonesian National Team player’s debut lasted 68 minutes, then he was replaced by Marton Svovoda.

“I am very proud to be the first Indonesian player to play in Serie A,” said Idzes on the PSSI website in Jakarta on Tuesday (27/8).

Idzes was named as a starter by Venezia Coach Eusebio Di Francesco in a three-man defence alongside Marin Sverko and Giorgio Altare.

On his Serie A debut, the 24-year-old centre-back almost scored in the 18th minute when he got a chance inside La Viola’s penalty box.

He met Alfred Duncan’s brilliant pass from a corner but his shot flew over the crossbar.

The 1.9m tall centre-back also produced three clearances, one interception, one tackle, 58 touches, 52 passes with 96 per cent accuracy, two successful long balls, one duel won from four opportunities, and one aerial duel won from four opportunities.

Idzes hopes his debut will inspire other Red and White players.
