jpnn.com – SOUTH JAKARTA – General Chair of the National Awakening Party, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, together with his wife, Rustini Murtadlo, opened the XVIth Palang Pintu Festival in Kemang, South Jakarta, Saturday (5/10).

Cak Imin – Muhaimin’s nickname, appreciated the Betawi cultural festival which is regularly held every year.

“This is one of the moments we have been waiting for, and it is the pride of South Jakarta and even the pride of Jakarta, namely the Palang Pintu Festival, which is a specialty of Kemang and South Jakarta,” said Cak Imin.

“Everyone should be grateful that this (was carried out) consistently, was carried out in an istikamah manner, the pioneering effort that has been attempted for a long time, today has had success. It is awaited by many parties and God willing, it will become one of the destinations of hope for the Indonesian people,” he added.

Cak Imin has high hopes that the Jakarta Palang Pintu Festival will become a means of strengthening and empowering various indigenous Betawi cultures.

He then outlined the three aims of the festival.

First, caring for, maintaining, continuing and implementing the values, teachings, norms, all the rules, examples which are the strength of Betawi culture and become unique features that contribute to national culture as well as Islamic culture.

“Palang Pintu has become an important contributor to enriching, strengthening and maintaining Indonesian cultural traditions. God willing, the noble values, exemplary values, will be maintained until ila yaumil qiyamah,” he said.
