Former AIADMK minister Jayakumar has been arrested and is currently lodged in the Pulhal jail in connection with a case of assaulting a DMK official, stripping him of his shirt and insulting him on the 19th of this month.

Judge Alli, who last Friday heard Jayakumar’s petition in the Chennai High Court seeking bail in the case, dismissed the bail plea, saying that bail could not be granted at present and that the arrest was only a few days away and that the trial was still at an early stage.

Jayakumar has filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking bail in the case. The petition states, ‘The complainant is currently in good condition and has no injuries in the body and it is incorrect to register a case of attempted murder as such and there are no injuries in the medical report.

The trial court dismissed the bail application without considering that the case was registered for political reasons and that the police would arrest him in different cases following his arrest in this case. Therefore, he should be granted bail in this case, ”Jayakumar said in his petition.

The case will come up for hearing soon before High Court Judge Bengiappan.
