Chennai:

The previous AIADMK government had announced that the Boise Garden House (Vedha Nilayam) of the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa would be converted into a memorial house. Legislation was enacted to implement it and the Vedha station and its movable property were nationalized.

Jayalalithaa’s nephew Deepa and nephew Deepak have filed a case in the Chennai High Court against the move. Similarly, a case was filed against the order fixing 67 crore 90 lakh rupees as compensation for the Vedha station. The verdict was adjourned after all the arguments were completed.

In this context, the verdict in the cases related to the Vedha station was given this afternoon. Then, the High Court issued an action order quashing the law that nationalized the Vedha station, the Boise estate home of the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. It also directed the Chennai District Collector to hand over the keys of the Vedha station to the petitioners within 3 weeks. It was also ordered to return 67 crore 90 lakh rupees paid as compensation to the Vedha station.

Why are there two memorials to Jayalalithaa, the Vedha Center and the Phoenix Memorial? As questioned by the judge.
