The Chennai High Court is set to rule tomorrow on the cases filed by Deepa and Deepak, who have been declared Jayalalithaa’s heirs, seeking to declare the state-born law invalid, declaring the Vedha Center, the Boise estate home of the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, as a memorial house.

The previous AIADMK government had announced that the Vedha Nilayam, the Boise Estate where the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa lived, would be converted into a memorial house. Legislation was enacted to implement it and the Vedha station and its movable property were nationalized.

Jayalalithaa’s heirs Deepa and Deepak had filed a case in the Chennai High Court against the law. Similarly, a case was filed against the order fixing 67 crore 90 lakh rupees as compensation for the Vedha station.

All these cases were heard by Judge Seshasai. At the time, Deepa and Deepak argued that the state did not have the power to legislate on the acquisition of personal property and that the law that made the Vedha station state-owned should be declared invalid and a ban on memorization should be imposed.

Deepa and Deepak contended that the land acquisition was done without consulting the heirs and that the land acquisition officer had paid compensation of Rs 67 crore 90 lakh to the house and paid the amount in the Chennai District Court.

It was alleged that the land was acquired without consulting them and compensation of Rs.

The Tamil Nadu government said it had sought the views of all parties before taking over the Vedha center and had taken steps to turn the Vedha center where Jayalalithaa lived, a role model for women, into a memorial house.

It was reported that Deepa and Deepak were not supportive when Jayalalithaa faced various issues, both politically and personally, and that no environmental certificate was required to make the house one lived in memorable.

After hearing all the arguments, Judge Seshasai adjourned the case till 2:15 pm tomorrow.
