by time news

The report of the Arumugasamy Commission regarding the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was submitted to Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Saturday.

Retired Justice A. Arumugasamy, Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry presented this report to the Chief Minister at the Chennai Chief Secretariat.

This commission, which was set up in the previous AIADMK regime in September 2017, has submitted a 500-page report after a period of about 5 years.

In the cabinet meeting… The Tamil Nadu government has announced that this report will be discussed in the cabinet meeting on Monday (Aug 29).

In this regard, in a press release issued by the state government on Saturday, it has been informed that the inquiry report given by Justice A. Arumugasamy to Chief Minister M. K. Stalin will be kept as an item in the Cabinet meeting on Monday and the Chief Minister has ordered to take appropriate action.

No delay: Justice Arumugasamy told reporters in Ezhilagam: I have not made any delay in examining the witnesses regarding Jayalalithaa’s death. As soon as the Commission was set up, a notification was issued to that effect and an inquiry was held a month later. Over 150 people have been investigated in 12 months.

This commission has conducted the investigation like a court. Each has been thoroughly investigated. The Supreme Court has also praised the Commission of Inquiry.

Apollo Hospital side and Sasikala side gave full cooperation. Sasikala gave a letter stating that she could not appear in person for the hearing. So we received his testimony by letter. AIIMS Hospital has given 6 reports. The first report from AIIMS was received only three months after Jayalalithaa’s disappearance.

There is no doubt that Jayalalitha was brought to the hospital from her Boise Garden home due to ill health. Therefore, we did not conduct any investigation at Boyce Garden House.

Otherwise, how was Jayalalitha’s health? What did he do to maintain his health? We have inquired into the report about things like who took care of him at home.

My job is only to present the inquiry report on Jayalalithaa’s death. I have completed it. The government will decide whether to publish the details contained in the report.

I do not include my personal opinions in the report. I have checked only the specific details of the testimonials.

He said that although many inquiry commissions have been set up so far, it is unnecessary to raise suspicions about the high cost of this inquiry commission alone.

When Justice Arumugasamy submitted the report to the Chief Minister, Law Department Minister S. Raghupathi, Chief Secretary V. Irayanbu and other officials were present.

The path taken by the investigation…

The commission headed by retired Justice A. Arumugasamy, set up to investigate the death of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, was instructed to submit a report within 3 months, but the commission was given time 14 times.

158 people were investigated by the commission. 151 people were investigated on behalf of the commission and 7 people who petitioned to be investigated.

The commission interrogated Jayalalithaa’s bodyguards, relatives, Sasikala’s relatives, IAS-IPS officers, doctors who treated Jayalalithaa, high-ranking police officials, and those who worked at Boise Garden.

When 90 percent of the commission’s work was completed, a case was filed against Apollo Hospital Saab in the Chennai High Court, claiming that the Arumugasamy commission was mistranslating the doctors’ statements and recording them. However, the Madras High Court refused to stay the commission’s inquiry and dismissed the petition.

Apollo Hospital appealed against this in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court heard this petition and imposed an interim stay on the investigation by the Arumugasamy Commission. Due to this, the Commission was paralyzed for almost two years without conducting any investigation. Later, the Supreme Court ordered that an expert committee of Delhi ‘AIIMS’ hospital can be set up and the commission can conduct an investigation in this matter.

Following this, as per the court order, an AIIMS expert committee consisting of 7 members headed by Dr. Sandeep Seth was constituted. Later, the former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who was the reason for setting up the commission, gave a statement in the commission. Several doctors were also cross-examined.

After receiving statements from various parties, Justice Arumugasamy was engaged in finalizing his report. The AIIMS expert panel released its three-page report last Aug. Submitted to the Commission on 4th.

It was reported that there was no wrongdoing in the treatment given to Jayalalithaa.
