Injured quarterback Jayden Daniels is traveling with the Washington Commanders to London and will participate in practice this week in some form or fashion ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Washington Commanders made the trip across the Atlantic for Sunday’s game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium carrying both encouraging health updates and heavy roster adjustments. Head coach Dan Quinn addressed reporters on Monday and Tuesday to outline the team’s travel plans and practice schedule following a 33-31 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Jayden Daniels Returns to the Practice Field in London
Daniels missed the team’s Week 3 victory against Seattle after suffering a dislocated left elbow during a Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys—an injury to the same elbow he previously dislocated and re-injured last season. While a full return for Sunday’s contest against Indianapolis remains far-fetched, bringing the quarterback on the London trip signals meaningful progress.
Quinn confirmed that Daniels will be a limited participant during Wednesday’s jog-through session. The coaching staff plans to evaluate his throwing and movement over the subsequent three days before determining a starter for Sunday. Whenever Daniels does return to action, he is slated to wear a brace on his left elbow for added protection through the remainder of the season.
Backup Marcus Mariota started under center against Seattle and remains an option as the team monitors practice performance. General manager Adam Peters previously noted that surgery was not on the table, and medical consultations in New York and Los Angeles established a recovery timeline expecting the young signal-caller back in three weeks or sooner.
Roster Shuffling and Injury Reports Ahead of Sunday
Beyond the quarterback room, Washington’s travel roster includes several key contributors working back from physical setbacks. Linebacker Frankie Luvu and tight end Chig Okonkwo made the flight to London and are expected to participate in practice alongside Daniels.
Running back Rachaad White also traveled despite sustaining a shoulder injury against Seattle, though coaches will monitor his practice reactions during the week. Meanwhile, guard Sam Cosmi remains in the concussion protocol, and safety Nick Scott did not make the trip.

The defense absorbed a significant blow with inside linebacker Leo Chenal. The 25-year-old newcomer underwent season-ending neck surgery on Monday morning after taking a heavy hit against Seattle that required him to be carted off the field on a stabilizing backboard.
“That’s a big deal. He is a great teammate and has been a really significant addition for us both on and off the field. So, man, that was good news to hear, just a little bit ago that things went well.”

Austin Ekeler Joins the Active Roster for the Trip
The Commanders also incorporated a familiar face back into the fold, signing running back Austin Ekeler to the active roster. Ekeler was a central weapon in Washington’s offense during the 2024 campaign before an Achilles injury sidelined him for the entire 2025 season.
Quinn noted that the veteran back made the flight to England and will be evaluated across the upcoming practice sessions to determine his involvement in the game plan against the Colts.
The Road Ahead in Week 4
Sitting at 1-2 following their narrow victory over Seattle, the Commanders look to use the international trip as momentum before hitting a demanding mid-season stretch. Washington faces Indianapolis on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, followed by a matchup against the Giants, before meeting the 49ers, Eagles, and Rams in Weeks 6 through 8.
