by times news cr

As expected, the concert started at 8:45 p.m. to the minute, then everything took a turn for the unpredictable! The captivating performances follow one another but are not alike. Sometimes music, sometimes singing. Particularly energetic pieces, then rather sad solo brass tones. The captivating decor makes you switch between various moods.

Leading the dance, Candy Dulfer, an artist who mixes jazz, funk and pop, assumes it. Life is made of ups and downs, moments of joy and others of sadness, she says, in between, “the most important thing is to keep hope, which keeps us alive, and to accept our differences to stay/live together and to bring love back into the world.”

“The message”, “No perspective”, “YeahYeahYeah”, “The climb”, “Lily was here”… So many pieces performed brilliantly by the artist and his instrumentalists, equally unpredictable. In perfect symbiosis, the strings and brass compete, taking turns to take over. Inspired, the musicians improvise at times, leading music lovers into captivating and captivating musical escapes.

The atmosphere on stage is explosive. The exchanges of glances and knowing smiles between the members of the group testify to the complicity and the joy shared on stage. The synergy communicates a contagious energy to the public, responding with equal fervor.

And then, Candy saved the best for last! As the band performed the last song, the maalem Hind Ennaira made her fabulous entrance on stage, delivering a musical fusion combining the sounds of jazz with the mystical depth of Gnaoua music performed by the guembri and the qraqeb.

As if by magic, the musical alchemy is unique. The tones of the saxophone and guitar blended with the percussion and haunting chants of the Gnawa tradition, creating a rich and deeply moving soundscape.

The masterful fusion closes this hour and a half concert. The electrifying Candy/Hind performance offered a memorable musical experience, highlighting the richness and cultural diversity celebrated by the Jazzablanca festival.

In an interview with MAP earlier in the day, Candy Dulfer expressed her amazement at the evolution of Jazzablanca, emphasizing the importance of this festival that mixes musical genres. “What I love about Jazzablanca is that it mixes music. There are so many festivals in the world with rock, house or pop music, but this kind of festival is where my heart is,” she said.

Candy also praised the authenticity of the festival’s programming and the attention paid to unique musical collaborations, saying she was “very happy to have been associated with the maalem Hind Ennaira for a fusion performance.”

“Participating in Jazzablanca and sharing the stage with an artist as talented as Candy Dulfer is an incredible experience. This collaboration shows the beauty of music that transcends borders and genres,” said Maalem Hind Ennaira.

And she added: “My journey as a Gnaoui maalem is a rich and exciting journey. Being a woman in this traditional field is a challenge, but it is also a great source of pride.”

The 17th edition of Jazzablanca and its share of emotions continue this Saturday at Anfa Park and on the United Nations Square, in the company of talented artists and a loyal and amazed audience.
