Jean D.Miller, Lifelong Pennsylvania Resident, Remembered for Faith, Family, and Entrepreneurial Spirit

A dedicated member of her community and a loving matriarch, Jean D. Miller of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the age of 93. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and a strong work ethic, leaving behind a legacy cherished by those who knew her.
Early life and Education
Born on November 29, 1932, in sharon, Pennsylvania, Jean was the daughter of George and Mildred (Himes) Salsgiver. She was raised by the values of hard work and community involvement.She was a 1950 graduate of Farrell High School, laying the foundation for a life of continued learning and contribution.
Marriage and Family
jean found lasting love with Robert E. Miller, whom she married on August 5, 1950. The couple built a life together until Robert’s passing in July 1981. Together, they raised a family and were deeply involved in the local community. Jean is survived by her daughter, nancy J. Miller of Shapsville, Pennsylvania; three sons, Russell E. (Angie) Miller of Sharon, Pennsylvania, Kenneth E. Miller (Jeanette) of Kennedy Township,Pennsylvania and Rodney M.(Kelly) Miller, with whom she made her home. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren – R. Russell (Sarah) Miller, bethany (Chris) Becker, Dr.Shannon (Jeff) Wilson-Cribbs, Dawn (Yaz) Perez, Amy Woodward, Ashley Miller, Erin (Eric) Kay, Ryan (Brittani) Miller and Karli (Ed) Evanko – as well as 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. Her sisters, Janet Salsgiver of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania and Judy (Tim) Mihalik of Rootstown, Ohio, also mourn her loss.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Bonnie L. Wilson; an infant son, Robert E. Miller, Jr.; a son-in-law, Paul H. Wilson; and a sister, Joan Golub.
Community Involvement and Career
Mrs. Miller was a lifelong and active member of Central Christian Church, dedicating her time to teaching Sunday School, participating in the Missionary Group, and serving as a deaconess. She also demonstrated leadership as a past president of the Shenango Valley Junior Women’s Club. Beyond her volunteer work, Jean was a skilled seamstress and co-owned “Draperies by Design” with her friend, Tina Hoover, for many years, retiring at the age of 72.
A Life Filled with simple Joys
Those who knew Jean remember her for her simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing cards with her sisters and brother-in-law, and cherished time spent with her family. She found joy in cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles, dancing, and a fondness for shoes, seafoam candy, and spearmint leaves.
Service Details and Memorial Contributions
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church, 218 Meadowbrook Rd., Hermitage, PA, 16148. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the church with Rev. Lew Voisey officiating. Burial will take place in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family requests that attendees wear her favorite color, red, to honor her memory.
