An investigation was opened after a complaint filed by the leader of La France insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, for malicious telephone calls and death threats, in connection with the war between Israel and Hamas, announced Wednesday October 18. According to the prosecution, the complaint dates from October 14. The investigations were carried out by the brigade for the suppression of delinquency against people.
According to Release, the telephone number of the former presidential candidate was published on a far-right site and Mr. Mélenchon subsequently received dozens of threatening calls and messages. His postal and telephone contact details were still accessible on Wednesday, “clearly taken from the file of a public administration”according to the newspaper.

A “fifteen parliamentarians” threatened with death according to Panot

She had specified that “Three of ours are under telephone raid with absolutely constant calls. One of ours whose family was targeted and directly threatened with death, and at least fifteen parliamentarians are directly threatened with death. Every time we file complaints”.
The war between Hamas and Israel has plunged the French left back into deep crisis. Torn over their values, the Nupes parties accuse each other of breaking their fragile union.
