Jelly Bean: Ultimate Knockout saw a surge in player numbers a day after switching to free-to-play — a phenomenon even on Steam, where the game has since been removed.
“Jelly Bean Man” has been converted to an Epic exclusive free game, which supports cross-platform connection. Players who have purchased the game in the Steam game library can continue to play.
The data shows that the number of simultaneous online players on Steam in the past 24 hours is nearly 60,000, which is the highest level since October 2020 and almost five times the data from the previous month.
In addition, the Epic platform and the console platform also have a large influx of new players, which has caused tremendous pressure on the game server. Some players cannot be matched, and some players fail to load the game or crash. In this regard, developer Mediatonic tweeted an apology to players: “To celebrate the free “Jelly Bean”, we baked a cake and threw it on the server, which will speed up the cleaning of the remaining ‘icing’ on the server.”
