For Jens Lehmann, Oktoberfest ended in a police check. The former DFB goalkeeper could now face a hefty fine.

A trip to the Oktoberfest could end up being more expensive for Jens Lehmann than he initially imagined. Despite having apparently drunk a few beers, he got behind the wheel. The police noticed the former national goalkeeper and stopped him. Driving under the influence of alcohol could cost Lehmann a fine of up to 120,000 euros, as the “Bild” newspaper reports.

According to the newspaper, Lehmann celebrated in the Schützenfest tent on Sunday and even danced on the benches. On the night of Monday, the police stopped him in the Sendling district. An alcohol test did not produce any usable results, so a blood test was ordered. The result is still pending. According to the report, he had to hand in his driving license.

In addition to having his driving license revoked, which for first-time offenders amounts to between nine and twelve months, Lehmann also faces a fine. Because several cases are already pending against Lehmann, for example for the chainsaw attack on his neighbor (read more about that here), he could face a sum in the three-digit range.

A lawyer specializing in traffic law explained to the newspaper that the Starnberg District Court had assumed a monthly income of 60,000 euros in the chainsaw case. If the income situation is still correct, Lehmann faces a fine of between 60,000 and 120,000 euros. In addition, if the offender has a blood alcohol level of 1.6, he will also have to undergo a medical-psychological examination (MPU). If he has a blood alcohol level of 2 per mille or more, he will have to provide proof of abstinence.
