Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has been selected as the ‘Best Organization’ for the Senior Citizen Job Creation Project. Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has been selected as the best organization for five consecutive years in the ‘2024 (2023 Performance) Senior Citizen Job and Social Activity Support Project Comprehensive Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

In the evaluation of institutions that directly carry out senior citizen jobs on-site, Gunsan Senior Club and Buan Integrated Social Welfare Center were honored with the highest grade, S grade (multiple type evaluation), and three institutions, including Gunsan City Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, Sunchang Senior Club, and Jeonbuk Federation of the Korean Senior Citizens Association Employment Support Center, received A grade (multiple type evaluation), and out of a total of 200 institutions selected, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province had the great feat of having 24 institutions selected as excellent institutions.

In addition, the Iksan City Wonkwanghyodo Village Welfare Center was selected as a special award recipient, and many implementing organizations in the province were selected as excellent organizations through active participation in projects, contributing greatly to the discovery of projects that fit the characteristics and aptitudes of the elderly and the enhancement of community service activities.

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province has been working to expand various customized senior job projects that reflect the social participation needs of the elderly. Last year, it secured KRW 251.1 billion in project costs and provided jobs to 68,901 seniors. This year, it is supporting KRW 347 billion in project costs and 78,841 jobs, an increase of KRW 95.9 billion and 9,940 jobs.

In addition, we are doing our best to provide consulting support for evaluation response as well as training for practitioners and safety education for participants in cooperation with the Jeonbuk branch of the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute, Jeonbuk Senior Job Center, cities and counties, and implementing agencies.

The performing organizations selected this time will receive incentives of up to 35 million to 5 million won, and the awards will be presented during the “2024 Senior Job Week Event” in September.

Jeonbuk Autonomous Province Welfare and Women’s Health Bureau Director Hwang Cheol-ho said, “The fact that our province has won the grand prize for five consecutive years in the national evaluation of senior citizen job creation projects is the result of the cooperation of the Jeonbuk branch of the Korea Senior Citizens’ Human Resources Development Institute, cities, counties, and implementing agencies, and the sincere participation of the participating senior citizens.”

“We will continue to do our best to discover and expand various jobs to help seniors live a dignified and healthy old age and achieve self-realization in old age, and to support a healthy and active old age,” he said.

In addition, Hwang Cheol-ho, Director of the Welfare, Women, and Health Bureau, said, “The senior citizen job creation project has greater significance in terms of its invisible positive effects, such as reducing social costs by relieving depression in the elderly through retirement income security and continuous support for social activities for the very elderly, low-income seniors, and the younger elderly who are not well prepared for retirement, and promoting public welfare in the local community. Therefore, I ask for your warm attention and interest in the senior citizen job creation project.”
