Jeongsu Temple on Ganghwa Island, a direct diocese of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, announced that it will extend the expert photo and mobile phone camera photo contest for the ‘Jinnorang Sangsahwa’, a Class 2 endangered plant by the Ministry of Environment, until September 22.
The head monk of Jeongsu Temple, Monk Mujin, explained, “This year in particular, due to the high temperature and humidity, changes in the surrounding environment, long rainy season, heat waves, and tropical nights, the flowering period of the Jinnorangsangsa flowers has been delayed, so we had no choice but to extend the photo contest.” Accordingly, the winning works will be announced on the BBS ‘Ham In-gyeong’s Morning Journal’ and the Jeongsu Temple website at 8 a.m. on October 7, and the awards ceremony will be held at the Daeungjeon Hall of Jeongsu Temple at 10 a.m. on November 1.
