Jeremy Renner Accused of Sending Intimate Photos, Threatening Filmmaker with ICE

Marvel star Jeremy Renner is facing serious accusations from filmmaker Yi Zhou, who alleges a pattern of inappropriate behavior, including the sending of unsolicited intimate photos and a threat to contact Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Zhou, the director of the documentary Chronicles of Disney featuring Renner, detailed the allegations in a series of Instagram posts and a recent interview with the Daily Mail.
Zhou, 38, claims she engaged in both a personal and professional relationship with Renner, 54, that ultimately left her fearing for her safety. According to Zhou’s account, Renner initiated contact in June, immediately sending personal and intimate photographs. She asserts this behavior is not isolated, referencing prior public reports of similar conduct.
“Mr. Renner first contacted me directly in June, sending personal and intimate photographs of himself, behavior that, according to public reports, he has exhibited before,” Zhou wrote on Instagram. She alleges Renner actively pursued a relationship, engaging her in frequent calls and text conversations. The pair reportedly began dating and collaborating on two projects, with Chronicles of Disney being the most prominent, featuring Renner in approximately 80% of the film.
The situation reportedly deteriorated following the documentary’s release last month. Zhou claims Renner refused to publicly promote the film, despite having signed written agreements with her Italian production company, Into the Sun Films. She further alleges that when she requested his assistance in combating false claims circulating online – specifically, accusations that the documentary was AI-generated – he declined to help.
The most alarming accusation centers around a private conversation between the two. “When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me,” Zhou wrote. “Such behavior is unacceptable and emblematic of the imbalance of power that continues to harm women in our industry.”
A representative for Renner dismissed the allegations as “totally inaccurate and untrue.” The actor himself has not yet issued a public statement.
In her interview with the Daily Mail, Zhou emphasized that she did not initiate contact with Renner. “I did not reach out to him,” she stated. “I didn’t even know his name, never watched a movie of his. He used me and denied me and denied our work.” Zhou also shared a screenshot of a pornographic image allegedly sent to her by Renner via WhatsApp in June.
Zhou’s account extends to a disturbing incident in August, where she claims Renner became verbally abusive during a work meeting at his home. She alleges that after consuming a bottle of wine, Renner yelled at her for two hours, forcing her to lock herself in a room out of fear for her life.
The accusations against Renner arrive less than two years after a near-fatal snowplow accident on New Year’s Day 2023. Renner publicly recounted the harrowing experience and his determination to survive in a subsequent interview with Diane Sawyer, stating, “I chose to survive. That’s not gonna kill me, no way.”
This is not the first time Renner has faced allegations of misconduct. During a contentious child custody battle with Canadian model and actress Sonni Pacheco, she accused him of substance abuse and making threats against her.
The current allegations against Renner raise serious questions about power dynamics and accountability within the entertainment industry, and further investigation will be needed to determine the veracity of Zhou’s claims.
