Jeremy Renner Finds New Love with Filmmaker Yi Zhou After Near-Fatal Accident, Relationship Faces Early Turbulence
A new chapter unfolds in the life of Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner, who has reportedly found romance with Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou, 17 years his junior, following his recovery from a devastating snowplow accident. However, the burgeoning relationship has already experienced public friction, raising questions about its longevity.
Jeremy Renner,54,is dating Yi Zhou,37,a documentarian and influencer who has shared glimpses of their connection on social media. Zhou confirmed the relationship to the Daily Mail, stating, “We have been in a relationship,” and adding that the actor “found new love” with her.
The pair are collaborating on multiple projects, including an animated film featuring Renner’s voice work and a documentary about Disney, the parent company of Marvel. zhou, who has modeled for renowned brands like Chanel and graced the pages of Vogue and Elle, revealed they even co-wrote a song together. “We have also written the score for the doc with Jeremy and wrote a love song together called Rising Sun at the Edge of the
This marks Renner’s first publicly linked romance since his near-fatal snowplow accident in January 2023, which resulted in 30 broken bones.
However, the relationship with Zhou hasn’t been without its challenges.Last month, Zhou publicly expressed frustration with Renner, posting a series of angry comments under his Instagram photos after encountering critical news stories about his past. She demanded to be “treated respectfully.” According to a screenshot, her concerns stemmed from reports of a purported “secret weekend” Renner allegedly spent with another social media influencer. Zhou has since deleted the posts, attributing the outburst to a “misunderstanding” she now regrets.
The catalyst for her public comments, Zhou explained, were reports concerning court claims made by Renner’s ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco. Pacheco alleged Renner engaged in drug use and hosted lavish parties, neglecting their young daughter Ava. These claims, made during a contentious divorce and custody battle, also included accusations of Renner flying women to his Reno mansion during the coronavirus lockdown and disregarding safety protocols. Renner previously denied these allegations, labeling them “one-sided.”
“We have this documentary coming out,and it was shocking for me to read these things. So I commented publicly. I shouldn’t have,” zhou admitted. “I deleted because I chose to believe and give a chance to somebody who wants to amend. He deserves another chance in life. After the accident he’s willing to change, and I want to believe that.”
Renner’s representative has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Prior to Zhou, renner was linked to amber Monson, a Reno-based hairdresser with a criminal record. Last year, the daily Mail exclusively reported that Monson’s family shared alleged explicit images sent by Renner and claimed he verbally abused her family members. Monson was arrested in 2021 for allegedly stealing a government vehicle and leading police on a high-speed chase.
Zhou, who has no criminal record, met Renner while working on her Disney documentary, Chronicles of Disney, described as “a personal and intimate exploration of the legacy of the Walt Disney Company.” Renner discusses his near-fatal accident and his determination to complete his Disney+ series, Rennervations, in the film.
Renner is also lending his voice to Zhou’s upcoming AI-animated movie, Stardust Future: Stars and Scars, slated for release in November, which Zhou claims is the first feature-length film created entirely using artificial intelligence.
Despite her initial public outburst, Zhou maintains a preference for privacy regarding her personal life. “I personally never communicate about my relationships publicly, because I prefer to let my work speak for me. I don’t need a famous boyfriend to be recognized,” she stated.
