Jerusalem Marathon 2022 – Traffic arrangements

The Israel Police has completed its preparations for the Jerusalem Marathon, which will take place this coming Friday (March 25, 2002), from 06:45 until around 13:30. Thousands of runners are expected to participate in the marathon, organized by the Jerusalem Municipality.

Starting in the morning, hundreds of police officers, border fighters, volunteers and ushers will be deployed along and near the deputies. The movement of vehicles to alternate axes and will assist in exceptional cases to the driver public.

Parking arrangements at the race track

  • On the day of the race vehicles parked along the axes of the running tracks will not be allowed to leave until the end of the event and the opening of the axles. The public is asked not to park the vehicles in these areas. Vehicles parked in forbidden places for parking will be towed.
  • Parking on Yehuda Street will be banned from Thursday, March 24, 2002 at 8:00 PM until the end of the marathon the next day.

Traffic arrangements

  • Burg Street and the State Comptroller will be closed on Thursday (24.3.22) from 17:00. Ruppin Street will be closed to traffic on Thursday at 11:30 pm until Friday at the end of the event.
  • On race day, Friday, Rabin and Ben Zvi streets will be closed starting at 4 p.m.
  • As of 05:30, the following streets or some of them will be closed to traffic:
  • The Hebrew University Campus, Netanel Lorech, Sderot Chaim Hazaz, Tchernichovsky, Palmach, Gaza, The President, Keren Hayesod, King George, Jaffa, IDF Square, The Paratroopers, Sderot Chaim Bar-Lev, George Adam Smith , Lehi, Martin Buber, Benjamin Mazar, Churchill, Karib, Jaffa Gate, Armenian Patriarchate, Zion Gate, Jerusalem Brigade, King David, Jabotinsky, Chopin, Dubnov, Gretz, Emek Refaim, Derech HaRachat, Bethlehem Road, David Remez, Hebron Road, Janowski, Yehuda, Pierre Koenig, Elazar the Conscious, Katamon Conquerors, Yehoshua Yavin, Sucker Garden.
  • The full list of streets appears on the Jerusalem Municipality’s website.
  • Traffic disruptions are expected on the streets adjacent to the race tracks. The hinges will be opened according to the progress of the runners and no movement of vehicles will be allowed parallel to the running tracks.

Main axes that will remain open to traffic

  • North – Uzi Narkis Boulevard, Road 9, Golda Meir Boulevard, Eshkol Boulevard.
  • Center – entrance to the city, Herzl Boulevard, Begin Boulevard south / north, Bar Ilan axis, Jeremiah.
  • South – Dov Yosef Road, Golomb axis, Ein Kerem axis, Givat Masua to Ora.
  • Traffic arrangements for the residents of the Mount of Olives: Mount of Olives – Jericho Road, Wadi Jouz, French Hill. For those returning, it will be possible to travel on the same route.

Instructions for attendees of the event

  • Marathon participants are asked to arrive early for the event.
  • For the benefit of runners and island marathons there will be free parking at Teddy Stadium. The shuttle system (free of charge) back and forth – departed from the eastern stand area at Teddy Stadium to Yosef Burg Street between the hours of 05: 30-13: 30.
  • It is strictly forbidden to fly civilian gliders / aircraft during the marathon.

It is recommended to use the WAZE navigation app which will be updated in the blocked axes. We call on the residents of the city and those who come through its gates to be patient due to the expected changes in traffic arrangements during the day and to obey the instructions of the police on the ground.

During the event, the public is asked to exclude as much as possible from traveling in private vehicles unnecessarily in the area of ​​the running route and to use public transport.
