Influencer and dancer Jessica Torres (33) called on today’s parents to educate their children. The media personality indicated that minors cannot decide and that the fault lies with the parents who do not know how to set limits for their children.
“A lot of people are going to tell me, ‘Jessi, you’re not a mom yet,’ it’s true, but I still want to give my point of view, because I may not be a mom, but I am a teacher,” Torres said via Instagram stories. Thanks to her experience as an educator, the influencer stressed that she can give her opinion on this topic.
“Sometimes we want to say ‘the crystal generation’ and in reality it is ‘the generation of parents who do not know how to set limits’, who do not educate their children, who give the power of decision to a child. How can you, mom? Or how can you, dad, not teach them values? Children cannot decide what is right and what is wrong in life,” she said.
The media personality pointed out that children can be asked about their tastes. “This generation is: today I want to go to the dance and tomorrow I don’t want to go, today I want to go swimming and tomorrow I don’t. And the parents say, ‘oh well, you don’t like it, don’t go’, and how many dancers tell me, how I wanted my mother to force me to finish the dance,” she indicated.
Torres said that at 13, she also wanted to quit ballet classes, but said her mother forced her to continue and thanks to that, today she is a professional in the field. “I invite parents to educate their children and to take that role seriously, because children are children and not adults,” she said.
