Despite a challenging year marked by a breast cancer diagnosis and recovery, singer Jessie J described 2025 as “one of the hardest but most magical years of my life.” The artist shared a deeply personal reflection on the yearS emotional complexities in a recent social media post,offering a raw and honest account of her journey.
Earlier in the year, Jessie J publicly revealed her battle with breast cancer, keeping fans informed throughout her treatment and subsequent recovery. She openly documented both the “lows and highs” experienced post-surgery, fostering a sense of connection and vulnerability with her audience.
in a December 30th Instagram Story, the singer acknowledged the societal pressure to present a perpetually positive facade. “As truthfully in a world full of ‘everything is fine, I’m happy, l’m good, life is perfect’ there is Grief hurt pain sadness heartbreak and reflection and processing happening this time of year for many of us, along side the good and great or on it’s own,” she wrote.
Embracing Vulnerability and Emotional Release
Jessie J continued, stating that 2025 was personally and professionally one of the most difficult, yet together most magical, years of her life. She explained that a period of rest – the first break from work and public appearances in months – triggered a wave of sadness. “But all the sadness has come up this week… So l’m crying a lot. Writing shit down feeling really low tbh. The lowest | have felt in a while,” she confessed.
The artist described feeling an “accumulation of stuff just making its way to the surface” and emphasized the importance of emotional release. “Don’t hold it in people.We are not superhuman or meant to be happy and positive all the time. It’s healthy and normal to cry,” she advised her followers. She concluded her message with a message of solidarity, stating, “Sending love to anyone feeling this way too right now. No positive end to this. Just I’m with ya. It’s shit sometimes.”
Triumphant Return to the Stage and New Music
Despite her health challenges, Jessie J marked a important milestone in September by returning to the stage for the first time following her surgery. This performance at the BBC Radio 2 In the Park festival in Essex was especially poignant as it was the first time her two-year-old son witnessed her perform live. “I’m just so grateful to be here,you have no idea how grateful I am to see so many of you singing along after all these years,” she shared with the crowd,adding,”another special thing that’s happening today is that my son is seeing me sing on stage for the first time.”
Adding to her year of resilience and creativity, Jessie J released her first album in eight years, Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time, in November. The album represents a new chapter for the artist, released independently through D.A.P. and her own self-titled label after parting ways with republic Records.
