Jesús Vizcarra, Socarna’s boss and leader of Salud Digna, is or was not a friend of “El Mayo” Zambada

by time news

It was June 2010. It had been two years Sinaloa Cartel The magnitude of the violence and the division of its structures resulted in the most violent and shocking division of the state’s population. In 2008, the army detained Alfredo Beltrán Leyva, aka El Mochomoand his brothers had accused Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán Loera of treason. The structure fragmented and each boss took sides: “El Mayo” Zambada More than 20 months had passed, with extreme violence including a series of assassinations, the forced displacement of thousands of residents from the mountains, and the indiscriminate use of goat horns and bazookas. It seemed that for the first time in a long time, Sinaloans were willing to make anyone associated with crime pay a political price.

Jesus Vizcarra Calderon He was a candidate for governor for the PRI, and his opponent was Mario López Valdez, alias Malova, a former PRI member supported by the PAN structure, by President Felipe Calderón and by former PRI governors Juan Millán Lizárraga and Francisco Labastida.

Vizcarra Calderón was (and still is) a powerful meat tycoon, owner of the market-leading Sukarno brand. He is also the president of Salud Digna, an organization that formally identifies as a non-profit, and which has a presence in practically the entire country. The governor at the time was Jesús Aguilar Padilla, a political ally of Millán Lizárraga, but who persisted in promoting Vizcarra even though neither Millán nor Labastida agreed. This caused an internal rift in the PRI.

Rubén Rocha Moya, now governor of Sinaloa, Morena, was at the time head of PRI Aguilar Padilla’s advisers.

Thus, confronted in the party, and confronted in the Sinaloa Cartel, they came to debate for the state governorship.

In June 2010, Mario López Valdez said, “I would ask Jesus… I would ask him today in front of thousands of Sinaloans if he was a friend of “El Mayo” Zambada or not.” Vizcarra did not know what to do and remained silent.

Vizcarra has been linked to “El Mayo” Zambada for many years, but it is true that criminal activity has never been proven against him. It is also true that he has never defended himself against the accusations.

in that government Jesus Aguilar PadillaVizcarra and Rocha agreed: Rocha as head of advisers, Vizcarra as secretary of economic development, period 2005–2007.

But their friendship goes back a long way. In their recent conference, held every Monday, “weekly”, the governor said they had had a good relationship since he was rector. Autonomous University of SinaloaAnd the businessman was president of the board of the Culiacán Civil Hospital in 1995, an institution that is part of the UAS.

When Rocha was asked about a flight to Los Angeles, United States, coincidentally the same day he was ambushed Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada by the people of Joaquín Guzmán López, son of El Chapo Guzmánconfirmed that the plane belonged to his friend Jesús Vizcarra, but that he had not asked for it but rather his son, Rubén Rocha Ruiz, since he said that he could not ask for such a favor as governor.

He also said that his son Rocha Ruiz wanted to pay for the private flight, that he had the money for it, but Vizcarra did not accept.

“I went out because it was the first week of the holidays,” he justified. “It didn’t cost me anything and he didn’t give it to me either. “He and my son Ruben understood each other … Jesus (Vizcarra) is my friend, but nobody can do me such a big favor because I’m the governor: he and my son Ruben understand each other.”

He said he was on that private plane to visit his relatives, brothers and nephews, who, like many other poor Mexicans, are migrant workers.

Flight logs show that Rubén Rocha Moya left for Los Angeles at 9 a.m. on July 25, the same day as the ambush against El Mayo Zambada in Culiacán. The plane used is Servicios Executivos Aéreos Viz, owned by businessman Jesús Vizcarra Calderón. Photo credit: Exclusive.

Jesús Vizcarra, Socarna’s boss and leader of Salud Digna, is or was not a friend of “El Mayo” Zambada

In 2007, as a reporter, I had to attend the first day of Jesús Vizcarra’s campaign as candidate for municipal president of Culiacán. His first act was at the municipal market, Garmendia, a place where he had sold meat from the family slaughterhouses since he was a child. He had the Eskimo, a cold milk chocolate shake. The tenants found it perfectly located.

As mayor, he took his close business team and set up a special office to reduce federal funding. His ambition was to do in three years what had not been done in 20 years.

In that campaign, and during a skills test to measure himself against his electoral rivals, Vizcarra was asked about history, culture and mathematics. He scored low in the first two subjects, but excelled most in numbers.

During the gubernatorial campaign, people in his close team told this reporter that Vizcarra had an unfriendly nature, was rather harsh and constantly scolding. In the end, this led to a harsh internal crisis for him that contributed to his defeat as a gubernatorial candidate against Malova.

However, another key element was the debate for governor of Sinaloa, where he could never deny that he was a friend of “El Mayo” Zambada.

Since then, Vizcarra has moved away from electoral politics.
