In a statement released on Saturday, the FCJE stressed that it had “received with great joy and emotion” the statement from the spokesperson of the Royal Palace on the creation of three organizations that watch over the heritage of the culture and traditions of the Jewish communities of Morocco, “thus promoting initiatives of coexistence and peace between two peoples, many of whose members share a common past and a future full of hope.”

The system submitted for the High Appreciation of His Majesty the King, developed following extensive consultations with representatives of the Jewish community and personalities belonging to it, includes three bodies, namely the National Council of the Moroccan Jewish Community, the Commission of Moroccan Jews Abroad and the Foundation of Moroccan Judaism.

The decision of HM the King confirms, once again, the Sovereign’s “commitment” to Jewish communities and “is in line with the provisions of the European Union aimed at protecting and promoting Jewish life in Europe”, the Federation states.

“Morocco (…) is becoming an example to follow for other countries and is helping to create a framework for reunion and coexistence,” say the Jewish Communities of Spain.

“Many generations of members of our communities came from Morocco many years ago and still maintain very close ties with the culture of coexistence, which is essential to our values,” the statement concluded.

During the Council of Ministers, chaired last Wednesday by HM King Mohammed VI, the Minister of the Interior presented to His Majesty the King a report on the measures developed, in application of the High Royal Instructions, concerning the organization of the Moroccan Jewish community.

These measures are based on the supreme responsibility of His Majesty the King in his capacity as Amir Al-Mouminine and guarantor of the free exercise of worship for all Moroccans, regardless of religious faith, and come to consecrate the Hebrew tributary as a component of Moroccan culture rich in its multiple tributaries.
