Under the theme: “Gender-based violence in Guinea, progress made and persistent challenges”, the NGO Jeune Fille Leader de Guinée announced the 3rd Young Girls’ Forum scheduled for October 17 and 18.
Through this conference, at the Maison de la Presse in La Minière, the aim will be to shed light on the conditions of young girls as a whole and the achievements in terms of the fight against gender-based violence through the forum.
“The objective of this current press conference is to announce the colors of the third edition of the Guinean Young Girl Forum. It should be noted that it is a flagship organization within the Club of Young Girls Leaders of Guinea which is held every year. So the ideal for us today was through the press to communicate the colors of this third edition after two successful editions of the Guinean Young Girl Forum. This third edition will focus on the theme of gender-based violence in Guinea, progress made and persistent challenges.
Today, the particularity of this third edition is that we do not focus on specific violence. We take into account the condition of the young girl in its entirety,” said Oumou Khaïré, executive director of the club of young leaders of the club of young girls leaders of Guinea.
For two (2) days, numerous activities will be put in place to better suppress gender-based violence (GBV).
On this occasion, reflections, recommendations and projects will be carried out in Conakry and in the interior of the country.
“We note that the results that are observed are not up to the level of the efforts made. How together can we think about new approaches, innovative solutions, and significant mobilization around these issues. So that gender-based violence in Guinea is completely eradicated and that we have results that reflect all the efforts made by the government, by us civil society actors, but also by development partners.
The Guinean girl’s forum will take place over two days and what we need to remember is that there are activities upstream of the forum, these are activities that will concern not only the Conakry area but the entire country. So we will go as close as possible to the communities, popularize the Guinean girl’s forum, exchange with these communities, it is all this data that will be relayed at the Conakry level that will allow us today to have an overview, global proposals throughout the national territory on these issues of gender-based violence. So these activities will take place within the country and in Conakry and during the two days we will bring together all these actors involved in the chain, we will make recommendations, we will reflect,” she plans before making a date for October 17 and 18, 2024.
