DEN BOSCH – “Hot flushes” is about the first word that follows menopause. It is also a common phenomenon in menopausal women. But that’s not all. There is so much more to tell about the transition. What exactly is it, what goes with it and not to forget; what can you do about it yourself?

There are women who continue to walk with menopause complaints, out of ignorance or sometimes shame. JHA gynecologists Rixt Smit, Mieke Kerkhof and Jacques Dirken think this is a pity and unnecessary. That is why they are organizing a webinar on Wednesday, November 30 at 8 p.m. together with two general practitioners, a menopause consultant and a cardiologist, because the women’s heart also plays an important role during the menopause.

Woman’s heart

What does the transition have to do with the female heart? And what exactly is the role of hormones? What should you pay attention to to prevent cardiovascular disease? JBZ cardiologist Maayke Sluman answers these and other questions during the webinar. According to Maayke, heart problems in women are still too often overlooked. Attention to the pattern of complaints and the specific risk factors in women creates more awareness about this subject.

Initiator Rixt Smit wants to inform women in transition and their partners as well and completely as possible with this webinar. She has a clear message; “Are you aware of what happens to your body during the transition, take yourself seriously and don’t keep walking with complaints. ”

Gynecologist Mieke Kerkhof also advocates seeing this stage in a woman’s life as an interesting, new period. “The transition is definitely not the beginning of the end. Time to fly out!”
