(ANSA) – BUENOS AIRES, AUGUST 16 – In Mendoza, Argentina, the Argentine police discovered an Islamic terrorist cell ready to carry out attacks against the city’s Jewish community. According to the Argentine Ministry of Security, seven people were arrested. The investigations were opened following a complaint from the Department of Community Assistance of the Delegation of Israelite Associations Argentina, also known as Daia. The group communicated through messaging networks such as Telegram and Whatsapp. In addition to planning attacks, the members of the cell also exchanged propaganda material from both the Islamic State and Al Qaeda. During the various searches, rifles and knives were also seized, as well as numerous electronic devices and volumes of Salafi ideology. The arrests took place throughout Argentina. In addition to Mendoza, also on the border with Chile and at the Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires (ANSA).
