Jimin won ‘Best K-Pop’ at the ‘MTV Europe Music Awards’, Europe’s largest pop music awards ceremony.
On the 10th (local time), the ‘2024 MTV Europe Music Awards’ (hereinafter ‘MTV EMA’) selected Jimin as this year’s ‘Best K-Pop’ winner. Following Jungkook, who was named the winner of ’Best K-Pop’ last year, a BTS member won the trophy in this category for the second consecutive year. ’MTV EMA’ newly established ‘Best K-Pop’ in 2021, and BTS was named to the list of winners as a team that year.
Jimin’s second solo album ‘MUSE’ and the title song ‘Who’, which were released in July this year, are still receiving great love on various global charts almost four months after their release. It seems that this popularity also influenced the ‘MTV EMA’ awards. ‘Muse’ and ‘Who’ have been charting on the US Billboard’s ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘Hot 100’ for 15 consecutive weeks. It has stayed on the UK Official Chart for 16 weeks, showing off its worldwide popularity. ‘Who’ is still in the ‘Top 5’, ranking 4th in the world’s largest music streaming platform Spotify’s latest ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ (counting period: November 1-7).
‘Whoo’ gave solo artist Jimin the best performance. This song entered the UK’s Official Singles Chart (counting period: July 26 – August 1) at number 4, recording the highest ranking for Jimin’s solo song on this chart. Additionally, in the first week of release, it swept the top spots in detailed charts such as ‘Single Sales’, ‘Single Downloads’, and ‘Physical Single Sales’.
