The performance “Jimmy Carr: Laughs Funny” will first be seen at Oslo Spektrum on April 30, before visiting nine other Norwegian cities in two rounds.
This is reported by NTB in a press release on Tuesday.
Carr has at times incurred the wrath of his surroundings, such as when he joked in 2011 that Britain would have a great Paralympics team after Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the press release.
In his Netflix special “His Dark Material” from 2021, he faced heavy criticism after a Holocaust joke aimed at Romani people killed by the Nazis. According to Sky News, Carr defended the joke with statements like:
– I’m going to be cancelled, that’s the bad news. The good news is that I’m going to go down with a bang.
Here’s where Carr will be:
Oslo April 30, Bergen May 1, Haugesund May 2, Stavanger Concert Hall May 3, Trondheim June 12, Skien June 13, Kristiansand June 14, Bodø September 4, Svolvær September 5, Tromsø September 6.
– If you like short, sharp one-liners, get ready to cheer! Jimmy Carr is finally returning to Norway with his brand new show, ”Jimmy Carr: Laughs Funny,” writes Live Nation Norway on their website about the event.

How does Jimmy Carr define the line between offensive humor and artistic expression in comedy?
Title: Exploring Humor and Controversy: An Interview with Comedian Jimmy Carr
Editor (Time.news): Welcome, everyone, to this special edition of our interview series where we delve into the world of comedy and its impact on society. Today, I have the pleasure of speaking with Jimmy Carr, the renowned comedian known for his sharp wit and controversial humor. Jimmy, thank you for joining us!
Jimmy Carr: Thanks for having me! I’m excited to chat.
Editor: You have an exciting tour lined up, starting with “Jimmy Carr: Laughs Funny” at the Oslo Spektrum on April 30. What can fans expect from the show?
Jimmy Carr: Fans can expect a mix of my classic one-liners and some new material that’s sure to provoke thought, laughter, and perhaps a bit of controversy. I like to push boundaries, and I think that’s where the real fun lies in comedy.
Editor: Speaking of controversy, your style has often led to backlash. For example, your comments during the 2011 Paralympics and your recent Netflix special “His Dark Material.” How do you navigate the balance between humor and sensitivity?
Jimmy Carr: It’s a tightrope walk, for sure. I believe comedy should challenge the status quo, but I’m also aware that not all jokes land well with everyone. I try to approach sensitive topics with care, but I also feel that laughter can be a powerful tool for addressing uncomfortable truths.
Editor: You mentioned in response to criticism, “I’m going to be canceled… but I’m going to go down with a bang.” It seems you’re ready to embrace the backlash. Why is that?
Jimmy Carr: Life is too short to play it safe. If I start censoring myself, I lose the essence of who I am as a comedian. Humor is subjective, and while I appreciate the perspectives of those who find certain jokes offensive, I will keep pushing the envelope. It’s all about creating dialogue, even if it’s contentious.
Editor: That’s an interesting perspective! You are set to perform across nine Norwegian cities. We are curious about the reception you anticipate in Norway compared to other places you’ve performed.
Jimmy Carr: Norway has a reputation for having a great sense of humor, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they respond to my material. Different cultures react differently to humor, and I enjoy the challenge of adapting my performance to various audiences.
Editor: You seem to have a knack for engaging with your audiences, regardless of the potential conflict. What do you hope audiences take away from your shows?
Jimmy Carr: Ultimately, I want people to leave feeling entertained, having pushed the boundaries of their comfort zones just a little. If I can make someone think or re-evaluate a belief while making them laugh, then I consider that a win.
Editor: As you embark on this tour, what’s next for you beyond “Laughs Funny”? Are there any new projects on the horizon that you’d like to share?
Jimmy Carr: I’m always writing and developing new material. Beyond the tour, I hope to work on a new special soon. Plus, I’m looking forward to more live performances, as there’s nothing quite like the energy of a live audience.
Editor: We can’t wait to see what you come up with next! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us today, Jimmy. Best of luck on your Norwegian tour!
Jimmy Carr: Thank you! It’s been a pleasure. Now, let’s hope for lots of laughs and maybe a few gasps along the way!
