Jindo County announced on the 16th that it has completed 100% of the sale of the agricultural, fisheries and food block in the Jindo County Agricultural and Industrial Complex in Nokjin-ri, Gunnae-myeon.

The Jindo County Agricultural and Industrial Complex Agricultural and Marine Products Block, which was built in 2015 on a site of 261,410 m2 with a total investment of KRW 17.7 billion, recently completed the sale of all nine lots of the project with the signing of a sales contract with Woozoo Co., Ltd. as a result of active investment attraction activities.

The companies that have signed a contract for moving in include seven food and beverage companies, one seaweed processing plant, and one abalone and snail feed company, all of which are suitable for an eco-friendly agricultural complex.

The three companies that have completed construction and are currently operating their factories, including Sigol Kimchi Co., Ltd., which began operations in 2018, are pushing forward with their projects, with the goal of starting construction by the end of this year, as are the remaining six companies, including the one that recently signed a contract.

It is expected that a high value-added industrial ecosystem will be created centered around the 100% sold food complex, and that it will become a driving force for regional economic growth, job creation, and population inflow.

The total investment of 31 billion won and the production inducement effect of approximately 300 people are expected to serve as factors that will invigorate the local economy, such as expanding tax sources.

Jindo County has been visiting various parts of the country to attract promising small and medium-sized enterprises and excellent companies while seeking an optimized business attraction strategy.

In particular, while the majority of the rapidly increasing agricultural and industrial complexes across the country have a sales rate of less than 50%, the ‘100% sales of the agricultural and fisheries food block in the county agricultural and industrial complex’ in Jindo-gun, located at the southernmost tip of South Korea, can be described as a miracle.

What is even more surprising is that in just one year, five companies signed contracts for 27,661㎡ (with an investment of approximately 20 billion won).

Newly established companies promised to involve local construction companies in the construction of their factories, purchase local materials and equipment, and give priority to hiring at least 50% of local residents when hiring new employees.

CEO Lee Heung-jin (Haenam Jeonbok Distribution, a fishing corporation) said, “We decided to invest in the agricultural and industrial complex in accordance with the active efforts of the Jindo-gun Investment Attraction Team to attract companies and the promise of administrative support,” and “We will strive to grow into a representative abalone and spatula manufacturer in Korea.”

An official from the Jindo-gun Investment Attraction Team said, “After discovering companies using personal networks, we actively promoted the excellence of the complex, such as the low selling price and complete seawater supply facilities, and through active efforts to attract companies, coupled with prompt administrative support, we built trust and achieved great results.” He added, “We will continue to create the optimal environment for companies to invest in, support many companies to invest in Jindo-gun, communicate with local residents, and create an agro-industrial complex that grows together with the local community.”

Jindo County has achieved 100% sales of the Jindo County Agricultural and Industrial Complex and the Agricultural and Marine Products Block, creating jobs, increasing population, and expanding sales channels for agricultural and marine products. As such, the county plans to continuously strive to ensure that the region and businesses can coexist and develop together.

Meanwhile, Jindo County is focusing its administrative power on attracting large-scale investments, including the Jindo Seojeonghwan Baseball Town, normalization of Korea Heavy Industries, commencement of the second phase of Sol Beach Jindo, new ship routes between Jindo and Jeju, and construction of famous brand hotels.
