Jindo-gun won the ‘Minister of the Interior and Safety Award’ at the 14th Local Government Productivity Awards. Jindo-gun (Governor Kim Hee-soo) participated in the 14th Local Government Productivity Awards held at the Seoul Government Complex on the 26th, and was ranked first in the country in the economic sector best practice category and received the minister of the Interior and safety Award.
Jindo-gun collaborated with McDonald’s in 2023 to launch the first burger using Jindo green onions, and was highly regarded as an exemplary case of loconomy where companies and producers coexist by increasing the product value of Jindo green onions and expanding sales channels. Jindo-gun received several awards, including the Prime Minister’s Award at the 2023 Government Innovation Best Practices Contest and the 2023 Active Administration Excellence Award for the launch of the Jindo green Onion Burger through collaboration with McDonald’s.
Based on this success story of loconomy, jindo-gun plans to produce and sell a variety of products using the excellent agricultural and marine products produced in Jindo to revitalize the local economy.
County Governor Kim Hee-su said, “Jindo green onions grown in the sea breeze of Jindo, which is surrounded by the sea on all sides, have a deep aroma and are rich in minerals. I hope that this award will make the excellence of Jindo green onions known throughout the country and become even more loved by consumers.” He expressed his feelings.
Meanwhile, Jindo-gun conducted a risk assessment on 45 workplaces in 20 departments with the advice of an external professional organization to create a safe and healthy workplace for workers.
The purpose of risk assessment is to ensure the safety and health of workers and prevent industrial accidents by identifying harmful and risk factors in the workplace and preparing betterment measures in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
This evaluation was conducted including contracting, service, and consignment workplaces, and the main contents included listening to workers’ opinions, risk assessment training, investigating harmful risk factors, and preparing and implementing improvement measures.
A joint inspection was conducted with the Jindo-gun Major Disaster Team, facility personnel, field workers, and external experts, and a final risk assessment report was held on the inspection results.
A Jindo-gun official said, “We will thoroughly manage even invisible risks to protect the precious lives of workers.”
