Meanwhile, Jindo-gun will hold the ‘1st Samrak Salon’ on October 25th as one of the ‘Living Area Local Branding Project’, a new regional branding project promoted by local residents.
This event aims to reinterpret Samrak (songs, calligraphy, painting, and hongju), Jindo-gun’s unique traditional cultural resources, and spread them as a local brand, and various residents, including local merchants, artists, and youth, are expected to participate.
The ‘Local Branding Activation Project for Living Areas’ is a public contest hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and its purpose is to enhance the uniqueness and self-reliance of the region by utilizing local unique resources, focusing on the living areas, which are the daily living spaces of residents. Through the project, we support the transformation of the region into a more livable, attractive place to visit. In the 2024 contest, 10 regions across the country, including Jindo-gun, were selected, and Jindo-gun plans to develop Samrak into a representative regional brand through this project.
After the Ministry of Public Administration and Security’s local branding project launch ceremony was held in June 2024, Jindo-gun held a local expert advisory meeting in July to discuss the direction of the project. Then, in August, Samnak Market was pilot-operated and received positive responses from residents and visitors. In addition, in September, local branding was promoted at the ‘Jindo Day’ event held at Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul, and Jindo’s culture and charm were actively promoted to the outside world, including the metropolitan area.
The ‘1st Samrak Salon’, held on the 25th, is an opportunity to explain the understanding and direction of Jindo’s local branding project and collect opinions from local residents. Plans will be discussed to help Jindo residents participate in the project and to develop new content based on Jindo’s unique culture.
A Jindo-gun official said, “Through Samnak Salon, residents will reinterpret Samnak, Jindo’s unique resource, and spread local branding projects based on it.” He added, “Residents will enjoy Jindo’s unique identity and cultural pride by enjoying Samnak in their daily lives.” “Not only will we have it, but outsiders will want to visit Jindo to experience Samnak.”
