Jindo-gun won the 2024 Rural Living ‘Best Award’. On the 16th, Jindo-gun announced that Gileunpurmi Village (CEO Jae-byeong Lee) received the grand prize (Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award) at the ‘2024 Best Practices of Living in Rural Areas’ contest award ceremony.
‘Living in the Rural Area’ is a project that supports returning to farming and rural areas by providing city people with opportunities to get jobs in rural areas, live there for a long period of time, and interact with local residents.
In this competition, the top 5 villages (Jeonnam, Chungbuk, Gyeongbuk 2, and Gyeongnam) selected through the first document screening among the 120 villages that operated ‘Living in the Rural Area’ and went through a presentation screening. The winners were finally selected.
For 6 months in the first half (April to June) and the second half (September to November), Gileunpurmi Village provides farming and fishing village experiences, island tours (Gwanmaedo, Jodo), and folk culture (drum play, Arirang, folk song) experience, making Jindo Hongju, cooking special products using turmeric, volunteer work, and local tours, while taking advantage of the characteristics of the Jindo region. It was highly praised for emphasizing its differentiation from other regions by adding a special experience.
In 2024, Jindo-gun received 46 awards, including the Dasan Mokmin Award, and evaluations from central ministries, and achieved the largest military government performance ever by securing more than 100 billion won in public offering project funds for two consecutive years.
Meanwhile, Jindo-gun (Governor Kim Hee-soo) recently announced that it held a graduation ceremony for the “2024 Jindo County Leader University” at the Jindo-gun Youth Center and produced 30 graduates.
The graduation ceremony was attended by approximately 50 people, including Governor Kim Hee-soo, officials, and 30 graduates, and diplomas were awarded to students who completed the 6-month curriculum with a passion for learning.
The 「2024 Jindo County Leader University」 started last June and provides leadership capacity building education as well as regional education on a wide range of fields such as tourism, culture and arts, youth, and agriculture and food to create Jindo as a ‘sustainable cultural city.’ Social inquiry education was conducted.
In addition, in order to share the importance of leadership with all residents, public lectures such as lectures by invited lecturer Mi-Kyung Kim and humanities lectures were held, which resonated with many residents.
On this day, a graduate said, “I will participate in creating a brighter society with local residents by practicing and sharing what I learned at Leader University.”
