Dhaka: Bangladesh has been witnessing many changes since the change of power in August. After Sheikh Hasina stepped down from the post of PM and the formation of an interim government under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus, the programs showing anti-India and love for Pakistan have suddenly increased. In this series, a program has been organized in Bangladesh on the death anniversary of Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah. This is the first time after separating from Pakistan and becoming an independent country in 1971, when such a big event has been organized in Bangladesh remembering Jinnah. Jinnah was praised a lot in the program of his 76th death anniversary on September 11 at the National Press Club of Dhaka. Some speakers even demanded that Jinnah be declared the ‘Father of the Nation’ of Bangladesh like Pakistan. Sheikh Mujiburahman is given the status of Father of the Nation in Bangladesh.
Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh Kamran Dhangal and many people associated with Mohammad Yunus government also attended this program. Dhangal expressed hope that the people of Bangladesh will understand the great role played by Jinnah at the time of independence and will accept that he was the creator of East Pakistan and the pioneer of Bangladesh. The gist of the talks of most of the people involved in the program was that Bangladesh was also born because of Jinnah because it was he who fought for a separate country for Muslims in 1947. Speaking at the program, BNP supporter Najrul Islam said, ‘If Jinnah was not there, there would be no Pakistan and without Pakistan there would be no Bangladesh. Jinnah is the father of our nation but we never talk about him. This is not right, it is hoped that Jinnah will now be remembered in Bangladesh also on his birth anniversary and death anniversary.

Love shown for Jinnah and Pakistan

People from Nagorik Porishod, an organization associated with Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, were also present in this program, which has been openly expressing its love for Pakistan. Porishod president Mohammad Samsuddin said during this time that if East Bengal had not become East Pakistan due to Jinnah’s efforts, it would have remained a part of India and our situation today would have been like that of Kashmir. Officials from the armed forces of Bangladesh also attended the program.

In this programme, on one hand Jinnah was praised and on the other, India was targeted. In the programme, while talking about the condition of minorities in India and the situation in Kashmir, it was said that Muslims in India are forced to live as second class citizens. In the programme, the speakers stressed on keeping distance from India and building strong relations with Pakistan.

Pakistan was praised a lot in the program and none of the speakers talked about the horrific atrocities committed by the Pakistani army on the Bengali people in the year 1971. These people ignored the horrific war crimes committed by the Pakistani army in 1971, which has been a sensitive issue for the large population of Bangladesh.
