Madagascar is ready to host the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG), according to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Haja Resampa during his trip to Morondava. The completion of the renovation work on the competition venues is scheduled for the end of July. Some of the equipment that will be used for the competition is already there, the rest should arrive soon.

A few federations have announced the list of athletes selected for the competitions to be held from August 25 to September 3. If previously 23 disciplines were selected for this 11th edition of the JIOI, only 17 disciplines will finally be present.

Barea Stadium in Mahamasina, Maki Stadium in Andohatapenaka, CNAPS Sports Complex in Vontovorona, Mahamasina Sports Palace are some of the competition venues in the capital.

The delegations will be accommodated in starred hotels in the capital and not in a Games village. This was also the case during the last Island Games in Mauritius in 2019. The Novotel Convention & Spa hotel in Ivandry will act as the games village according to the site dedicated to these JIOI 2023.
