jpnn.comJAKARTA – PT Jakarta Infrastruktur Propertindo (JIP) in collaboration with the Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Service (Diskominfotik), provides free internet or WiFi facilities for flat residents.

This program, known as Jak wifi, is presented to support affordability and easy access to information for residents of low-rent flats (rusunawa) in the digital era.

This program is part of corporate social responsibility or CSR to expand the reach of internet access in public areas of flats, in order to encourage a spirit of creativity for education and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

So far, free internet facilities have been available at 73 access points spread across 19 flat locations in the Jakarta Province area, with two installation stages since 2020.

In 2024, the plan is to add phase III WiFi access infrastructure at additional flat locations, including Muara Baru, Kapuk Muara, Tambora and Flamboyan.

General Manager Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jakarta Infrastruktur Propertindo, Aji Rizqi Yodhana, said that since it was operated, this free wifi has been used by 13,342 users from 2020 to March 2024. The wifi jack can be accessed in public areas in every flat from 06.00 to 21.00 WIB.

“We hope that this service can help ease the burden on citizens in accessing information and online learning resources without being constrained by costs. “Apart from that, this program can also be useful for families with school children who need internet access for online learning, as well as helping residents who work from home or run small and medium businesses,” said Aji.

The Jak wifi program, which offers bandwidth of up to 50 mbps, is also equipped with a Networking Management System (NMS) which allows monitoring of user internet traffic in each flat.

The CSR initiative of implementing free WiFi by JIP in flats in the Jakarta area is a concrete step in supporting the socio-economic resilience of the community.
