The end of rotating load shedding was announced by the Ministry of Energy and Hydrocarbons, on behalf of the Malagasy water and electricity company (JIRAMA). The problems of heavy fuel oil supply to be able to produce electrical energy would be resolved. Supplies have already taken place in recent days at thermal power stations.

The Minister of Energy and Hydrocarbons met with oil operators to discuss the problems and provide solutions. A decision was then made. The ministry then welcomed this resolution of the problems and announced that consumers can now enjoy it without the slightest worry.

A week earlier, subscribers to the interconnected networks of Antananarivo, those of Mahajanga, Toamasina and Toliara spent several hours a day in the dark because of cuts ranging from more than two hours, within the framework of what the JIRAMA called it “rotating load shedding”. As usual, the explanations of the state company boil down to technical problems.

Power cuts with JIRAMA have become commonplace in the country over the past ten years. The dilapidated state of the equipment, the lack of maintenance and above all the poor management are, among other things, the reasons mentioned since. In the rainy season as well as in the dry season, JIRAMA always experiences problems that affect users. Added to this are the corruptions that undermine this state-owned company.

This resolution of the load shedding problems seems to be only a temporary solution and constitutes only one part of the big difficulties encountered by this company.
