Is titled The Christmas Pig and arrives on October 12 all over the world. It is the new book by JK Rowling, the author’s first children’s novel after the Harry Potter saga. In Italy it will be published in print and in ebooks by Salani, publisher of all the books of the English writer. At the same time it will also be released in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and India for the Hachette Group, in the USA and Canada for Scholastic, and will be translated into more than twenty languages.

Tell the love story of a little boy named Jack for his favorite toy, a plush pig, and what he is ready to do to find it, all wrapped in the magic of Christmas Eve. Where everything more happens and even toys can come to life. On the magical journey in search of the puppet, the best friend he ever had, Jack is accompanied by the Christmas Pig (annoying fresh-from-the-shop substitute), who seems to have a bold plan in mind.

The new novel is an original story, unrelated to the other works of JK Rowling, for children aged 8 and over. «A topos of children’s literature reinterpreted by the creative genius of JK Rowling – comments Mariagrazia Mazzitelli, Salani’s editorial director -. One of the most beautiful Christmas stories ever written, full of the irresistible tenderness of childhood in the face of the great mystery of loss, a theme that is always so present in the author’s work. His affectionate, inexhaustible imagination and compassion for loved people and objects that absorb human feelings is the celebration of the warmth of family, of caring and feeling understood and of the authentic sustainability of things ».

The Christmas Pig follows the return of JK Rowling to the publication for children last year with the fairy tale L’Ickabog (in «la Lettura» # 467 of 8 November 2020, available in the App of the insert, the report by Severino Colombo was released) serialized online during the lockdown to entertain the little ones and later published by donating all its rights to charity Volant to help those most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The new novel will be available in a hardcover edition, featuring illustrations by award-winning artist Jim Field. The cover has not yet been released, it will be unveiled in the coming months.
