Joan Roca, awarded in the sixth edition of the DOP Catalan Oil Awards

Girona chef and gastronome Joan Roca (El Celler de Can Roca) was awarded this Thursday during the 6th edition of the DOP Catalan Oil Awardswhich took place at the La Unió Fraternal Recreational Society (SUF) in Roses.

The chef has received the Award in recognition of his task in the dissemination and use of extra virgin olive oils and his contribution in the world of cooking and gastronomy.

In addition, the supermarket company Caprabo and the doctors and researchers Elisa Llurba, Ana Maria Polo and Mónica Cruz have also been distinguished this year.

The five protected designations of origin of olive oil in Catalonia – Les Garrigues, Siurana, Terra Alta, Baix Ebre-Montsià and Empordà – emphasize that these awards aim to contribute to the spread of olive oil culture .
