“As described last week, recognizing the potential for so-called ‘rebound’ positivity of the coronavirus observed in a small percentage of patients treated with PAXLOVID, the president has increased the pace of his testing, both to protect those around him and to ensure early detection of any resumption of viral replication,” said White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor.

O’Connor said in the letter that Biden tested negative for COVID-19 on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning, Thursday morning and Friday morning, but tested positive on Saturday morning by an antigen test. The doctor says the re-infection represents a “re-positivity” and said Biden has not experienced a recurrence of symptoms, and there is no need to restart treatment, but President Biden, 79, will begin “strict isolation procedures,” according to O’Connor.
Biden tweeted Saturday afternoon that he would continue to work: “Guys, today I was tested again for COVID. This happens to a small minority of people. I have no symptoms but I intend to isolate for the safety of everyone around me. I’m still at work, and will be back on the road soon.” , Biden said.
Biden has recently been seen at several White House events without a mask since testing negative for Covid on Wednesday, including at a roundtable discussing the economy on Thursday. Dr. Mark Siegel, a Fox News medical analyst and professor of medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center, said it doesn’t look good for President Biden: “It doesn’t look good for a president thinking about an election. He played too much with it,” Dr. Siegel said.
Biden and his people would actually be happy for another time-out for the president from contact with the media, in the midst of inflation, a recession that the White House denies exists, and some stammering speeches from the fading president.
