Joe Gomez has departed Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia due to an injury, manager Arne Slot confirmed. The defender is now back in Merseyside for treatment of an Achilles problem at the AXA training center.

Slot addressed the situation before the match against AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday. “Of course, he was with us during the first part of the week, but he had some Achilles problems,” Slot said. “We thought that he was better to assess the situation in England.”
The manager added that the club wants Gomez to work on his recovery in “more ideal circumstances for him than to be part of the group that has no lost time.”
“So we decided to let him return to England,” Slot stated. “But we hope he will soon be back.”
