Joey King Stands by “The Kissing Booth” After Jacob Elordi’s Comments
Actress Joey King is speaking out in defense of the Netflix rom-com trilogy “The Kissing Booth” after her ex-boyfriend and co-star Jacob Elordi seemingly shaded the films in a recent interview.
In an interview with Variety on Dec. 2, King responded to Elordi’s comments, saying, “I think it’s unfortunate anyone would feel that way. I had a great time making those movies no matter what anyone says.” The 24-year-old actress had previously expressed her pride in the films, telling The Independent in 2022, “I couldn’t be prouder of those movies.”
Last month, Elordi raised eyebrows when he spoke negatively about his experience working on “The Kissing Booth” franchise in a cover story for GQ. The “Euphoria” actor admitted, “I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies. Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape.” Elordi also criticized the Hollywood “one for them, one for me” ethos, referring to it as a “trap.”
King and Elordi dated from 2017 to 2019 and both starred in the three “The Kissing Booth” films, which debuted between 2018 and 2021. The public disagreement between the former couple over the movies has sparked conversation among fans and the entertainment industry. Despite Elordi’s comments, it appears that King remains unwavering in her support of the beloved rom-com trilogy.
