Kochi: Legendary screenwriter John Paul Passed away has passed away. He was 72 years old. He died at a private hospital in Kochi. He was admitted to various hospitals in critical condition for two months. John Paul was paralyzed by shortness of breath and low levels of oxygen in the blood. He was transferred from the hospital where he was first treated a month ago after being referred for treatment by the critical care team. A special medical team was deployed to treat the condition.

The state government had earlier sanctioned Rs 2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s fund to the medical aid fund of Paul, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kochi. In addition to this, eleven lakh sixty four thousand rupees came from the public for medical assistance. Minister P Rajeev visited John Paul at the hospital. John Paul’s family’s financial situation worsened after months of treatment, and efforts to raise funds began with the help of an audience. But he said goodbye as the move progressed. John Paul, an employee at Canara Bank, later resigned and became a full-time screenwriter.

He has won the State Award for Best Film Text, the State Award for Best Director, the National Award for Best Environmental Film, the Film Critics ‘Award for Screenplay and Documentary, the State Television Award, and the International Federation of Film Critics’ (FIPRESC) Special Jury Award. He was the producer of the state, national and international award winning film Cherupunchiri directed by MT Vasudevan Nair. She starred in the films Gangster and Care of Sairabanu.
