Joint Kerala-Tamil Nadu Inspection to Prevent Drug Smuggling

In an effort to curb drug smuggling between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, officials from both states conducted joint inspections in the border areas ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations. The inspections aimed to prevent the illegal transportation of drugs from Tamil Nadu into Kerala.

A special team, led by Peerumedu Excise Circle Inspector G. Vijayakumar, Preventive Officer D. Satishkumar, and Tamil Nadu Prohibition Wing Circle Inspector Surya Thilakarani, has been appointed to continue vigilance at the border until January 5. The team checked various locations such as Chellarkoli, Valiapara, Chakkupallam, and Pandikuzhi, and also inspected vehicles at the Kumali check post.

Officials have decided to strengthen vigilance at the crossings from Tamil Nadu to Kerala. During the inspections, the team apprehended Dharman, a 19-year-old native of Keerikara, with 10 grams of ganja. Dharman claimed that he had brought the cannabis for his own personal use, but the excise team concluded that he was a regular ganja smuggler.

This joint effort between Kerala and Tamil Nadu officials demonstrates their commitment to combating drug smuggling and ensuring the safety and security of both states. The team’s efforts to strengthen vigilance at the borders highlight the importance of collaboration between neighboring states in preventing illegal activities like drug trafficking.
