Chonbuk National University’s College of Engineering and Indonesia’s National Institute of Technology signed an implementation agreement for joint research and human and material exchanges on the 13th. Na Chang-woon, Dean of the College of Engineering at Chonbuk National University, and Heri Hersimansiya, Dean of the College of Engineering at the National University of Indonesia, introduced the areas of strength of the two universities and discussed future cooperation in education and research at the signing ceremony held at Chonbuk National University.

In particular, the Indonesian National University College of Engineering plans to work closely with the Chonbuk National University College of Engineering to research international joint projects to foster semiconductors, secondary batteries, and biotechnology. Chonbuk National University’s College of Engineering is recognized for its competitiveness in the QS engineering technology field, ranking second among domestic base national universities. The National University of Indonesia is the most prestigious university in Indonesia where the best talent gathers, and is ranked 237th in the QS World University Rankings.

The efforts of the Chonbuk National University Department of Chemical Engineering played a major role in the two schools signing an implementation agreement. In particular, it was particularly effective that Bambang Heru, Dean of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the National University of Indonesia, visited the Department of Chemical Engineering at Chonbuk National University in November of last year and confirmed the outstanding research capabilities of Chonbuk National University. Chonbuk National University’s Department of Chemical Engineering is recognized for its outstanding research infrastructure and research capabilities, ranking 167th in the world in the chemical engineering field in the U.S. News World University Rankings. Chonbuk National University has maintained steady exchanges with the National University of Indonesia, a resource powerhouse, in order to strengthen research capabilities and diversify employment for graduates.

Professor Youngsang Yoon (Department of Chemical Engineering), who played the role of midwife, said, “The cooperation that started in the Department of Chemical Engineering has spread to the entire College of Engineering,” and added, “The Department of Chemical Engineering will play a role in producing concrete results in the future.” Na Chang-woon, Dean of the College of Engineering at Chonbuk National University, said, “By combining the excellent resources of the Indonesian National University and the research infrastructure of Chonbuk National University, we will achieve results in joint research, attracting graduate students, and human exchanges to raise the status of the College of Engineering as a key national university.”
