Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures: All-Star Battle R, la recensione

by time news

On the occasion of the return to Netflix of the endless animated saga of Jojo, saga created by mangaka Hirohiko Araki, Bandai Namco has decided to publish a remastered version of a 2014 fighting game. Developed by veterans of the games taken from the anime CyberConnect 2, All-Star Battle is based on the classic one-on-one mechanics in two dimensions, but has the advantage of having fully captured the style of the manga in all its parts, from the menus to the polygonal transposition of the characters. About fifty selectable from each of the eight story arcs of the original manga, for an exceptional variety that will satisfy any hard fan of the work. All the others will find themselves faced with a beat ’em up with rhythm and certainly spectacular, also considering that the special moves are all entrusted to the pressing of keys in rapid succession or through a simple crescent. Now as then, the game aims for extreme immediacy and succeeds in its task. This new edition, adjusted from a technical point of view and revised in some modes, finally has a fixed 60 frames per second of fluidity during the clashes, and this makes the title much more playable than the first release.

The story mode, one of the most lacking aspects of the 2014 version, has been revised as a series of clashes set in that precise narrative arc, which often also offer us “alternative” battles between versions of the same character or heroes of different narrative arcs. However, the mode in question fails to provide an exhaustive view of the history of the series, assuming that fans know the characters and the links between them. However, All-Star Battle R remains a product designed primarily for fans. There is no shortage of online modes, which are however plagued by stability problems, at least during the launch period and in view of future updates. All-Star Battle R is still an improved version of the best Jojo-related fighting title ever released, and is undoubtedly worth the purchase by all opera lovers, or anyone passionate about fighting above. the lines, more spectacular than tactical.

Format: PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (versione testata), Switch publisher: Bandai Namco Developer: CyberConnect 2 Vote: 7/10
