Jokowi Loyalist, Erick Thohir Needed to Accompany the Presidential Candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA – Potential continuation of the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) is getting stronger. The reason is, the former President of Inter Milan has the status of a loyalist to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) so that it can support efforts to win the presidential candidate (candidate) in the upcoming presidential election.

“Among the names that have strengthened in my opinion is Erick Thohir. Because Erick Thohir is a Pak Jokowi loyalist,” said Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi virtually, Sunday (4/6/2023).

As is known, Erick Thohir is a leader who is perpendicular to President Jokowi. He is a minister who is the mainstay and trust of the number one person in Indonesia.

Evidently, Erick Thohir received many strategic assignments from President Jokowi in government, both professional and personal. In the professional realm, Erick Thohir has succeeded in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic and restoring the national economy through the people’s economy movement.

He promoted the KUR, Mekaar and Makmur programs so that the community’s economy could continue during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, Erick Thohir succeeded in succeeding the assignment from President Jokowi in transforming the Ministry of BUMN.

Erick also succeeded in reducing the number of hundreds of state-owned companies to 43 and also established Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). Erick Thohir has also succeeded in answering President Jokowi’s challenge to eradicate corruption within state-owned companies.

The success of carrying out the mandate from President Jokowi at the Ministry of BUMN is clearly recorded by consistently increasing profits every year and record dividends to the state which touched the largest figure in history. Then in the personal realm, Erick Thohir succeeded in succeeding the wedding of President Jokowi’s children, namely Kaesang Pangarep and Erina Gudono in Solo City.

On one occasion when visiting people in Riau, President Jokowi also stated openly that Erick Thohir was his top minister. Considering that President Jokowi has a high level of satisfaction in society, has many loyal supporters throughout Indonesia, and as one of the King Makers, Erick Thohir, who is his trusted leader, has the potential to be proposed as vice presidential candidate.

Muhtadi said Erick Thohir could smooth President Jokowi’s blessing for the presidential candidate he is accompanying in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Like the Gerindra presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, who Muhtadi sees as needing the blessing of President Jokowi in order to win in his third presidential election.

“Pak Prabowo is approaching to get Pak Jokowi’s blessing (his blessing) and there are many indications that show the closeness between Prabowo and Erick Thohir,” concluded Muhtadi.
