jpnn.comSOLO – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited his childhood school at SDN Tirtoyoso 111 Gilingan Banjarsari Solo, Saturday (12/10) morning.
There the President distributed school supplies to 158 students.
The President’s entourage arrived at SDN Tirtoyoso 111 Elementary School at around 08.11 WIB. Jokowi then went around and entered the 4th and 5th grade classrooms.
Principal of SDN Tirtoyoso 111 Elementary School Leli Maria revealed that the visit was Jokowi’s first visit to his elementary school during his tenure as President.
“For a while, it was the first time when I became RI 1. In the past, when I became mayor, I also came here. When I became RI 1, it was only now,” he said when interviewed.
Leli said that his party had received information about Jokowi’s arrival on Thursday (11/10). The Palace confirmed the visit a day later.
“Fixed yesterday. On Thursday there was a notification but it was not clear whether it came here or not. Then the notification was definitely only yesterday,” he explained.
SDN Tirtoyoso 111 is the school where Jokowi received his elementary education. He was listed as class of 1973.
This information was revealed by Leli. He also revealed that one of Jokowi’s classmates named Narsih was also present at the visit.
“You have a friend from your childhood. Your childhood friend. So Mrs. Narsih’s school friend was your elementary school friend. That means she was a friend in the same class. Mrs. Narsih. Class of 1973,” he said.
Apart from classes, on that occasion Jokowi went around to see a number of spots at SDN Tirtoyoso 111.
“Mr. visited the classes, the children’s classes. I was in class 4 and 5 and then looked at the buildings around. This means there may be differences, such as the shop, which used to be on this side, has now moved to that side,” explained Leli.
Jokowi also gave gifts in the form of stationery and other school equipment. All 152 students received the gift.
“The father gave the children bags as gifts along with stationery, one set of school supplies for each child. All 152 students,” he explained.
Leli added that Jokowi also gave gifts in the form of batik clothes to all teachers at SDN Tirtoyoso 111.
“From school, teachers get batik. For schools, maybe next,” said Leli. (mcr21/jpnn)
