October 14, 2025 seems like a long way off, but it’s our time to plan, build and launch Joomla 6. The first Alpha will be launched on April 15, 2025, coinciding with the Joomla User Group in London and my 60th birthday.
Key features for All
We want to hear from the whole community about what should be included in Joomla 6. This first major release won’t be feature-packed, but it will set the tone for the rest of the series. We are not looking for features that benefit a few, such as an integrated repository, as this is already covered by the extensions directory.
Will it be a Migration or an Update?
It will be as smooth as we can make it without compromising security and performance. We need testers to ensure that improvements and features are not lost. this article by Christiane Maier-Stadtherr shows how you can make a difference.
