/ Jordan announced, on Sunday evening, that the attack during which 3 American soldiers were killed did not occur within Jordanian territory, hours after the Pentagon announced that a military base in Jordan was attacked by militias loyal to Iran.
Jordanian government spokesman Muhannad Mobaideen said, “Terrorist militias carried out the attack that targeted the Al-Tanf base,” stressing that “the base is outside Jordan’s borders.”
Al-Tanf base is located on the Syrian border with Jordan and Iraq, but it belongs to the Syrian governorate of Homs.
Mobaideen’s statements came after Washington announced that 3 American soldiers were killed and many others were injured, in a drone attack on American forces stationed at a base in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border.
The bases housing American forces in the region were subjected to dozens of attacks during the past few months, coinciding with Israel launching violent attacks on the Gaza Strip.
